7 Deadly Sings (2014). A song-suite for voice and septet, taking the seven deadly sins as its subject – an hour of original words and music on the waywardness of human desire.
The idea
Each movement is built around the distinctive ‘voice’ of one of the players, introduced first in a short Prologue before the full band takes it on – the suite works its way through Envy, Sloth, Anger, Lust, Gluttony and the rest.
The Septet
Louise Gibbs (voice) with Tony Kofi (alto & baritone sax), Tim Whitehead (tenor sax & bass clarinet), Quentin Collins (trumpet), Tom White (trombone), Sam Leak (piano), Oli Hayhurst (bass) and Sam Gardner (drums).
