‘Seven Deadly Sings’ is my most ambitious project yet – a song suite for singer and septet with 55 minutes of original text and music. Based on the Seven Deadly Sins, the suite is an impassioned commentary on the waywardness of human desire.

A recording with 33Xtreme (33Jazz) – released in January 2014 – features top UK musicians: Tony Kofi (alto and baritone saxophones), Tim Whitehead (tenor saxophone, bass clarinet), Quentin Collins (trumpet), Tom White (trombone), Sam Leak (piano), Oli Hayhurst (bass), and Sam Gardner (drums), with me on vocals. A Northern Septet has been assembled to give more flexibility with touring: Krzysztof Urbanski (alto/baritone sax), Riley Stone-Lonergan (tenor sax/clarinet), Kim Macari (trumpet/flugel), Kevin Holbrough (trombone), Sam Leak (piano), Simon Read (double bass), & Katie Patterson (drums)

Seven Deadly Sings was first performed March 2014 at Seven Arts in Leeds. It has been heard at the Marsden Jazz Festival, in Scotland at the Jazz Bar and the Glasgow Arts Club, and will be premiered in London at the Bulls Head, Barnes 17 June 2015.
