‘Seven Deadly Sings’ is my most ambitious project yet – a song suite for singer and septet with 55 minutes of original text and music. Based on the Seven Deadly Sins, the suite is an impassioned commentary on the waywardness of human desire.

Led by the veteran composer, arranger, drummer and educator, Tony Faulkner, the Yorkshire Jazz Orchestra brings together the best musicians in the region to play quality original and contemporary jazz. Louise Gibbs is honoured to be resident singer with the band.

The project has been a labour or love for its musical director and 20 core players, tackling some of the most subtle and demanding writing for large ensemble in jazz today. The intention is for the Yorkshire Jazz Orchestra to become a permanent fixture, providing a platform for the abundant performing, composing and arranging talent currently based in Yorkshire. …

Five Pieces of Silver celebrate the joyous and enduringly soulful music of legendary pianist-composer Horace Silver. His Song for My Father; Nica’s Dream; Peace; Horacescope; Señor Blues; Sister Sadie, The Preacher are the mainstay of the jazz repertoire, and these and lesser-known material have been lovingly compiled and transcribed by 5PoS’s bassist, Paul Baxter and pianist, Zezo Olimpio.

The instrumental quintet was the composer’s format of choice for his many recordings. But Horace Silver also wrote lyrics to many of his pieces. Louise Gibbs joins Five Pieces of Silver to feature as both vocalist and sixth horn. 5PoS’s performances are …
