29 November 2020 1:30 pm - 4:00 pm
Venue: Seven Arts Jazz, 31 Harrogate Road, Leeds
THIS GIG IS POSTPONED TO 29 November 2020 – due to Coronavirus!
We celebrate the music of Duke Ellington and Billy Strayhorn with the classics (and some forgotten masterpieces) that forged jazz – from Mood Indigo, Take the A’ Train, Lush Life to th rarely performed Rhumm Bop (‘Drum is A Woman’) and The Blues (Black, Brown & Beige’).
Recreating the trio format of my ‘Love You Madly’ album that marked the centenary of Ellington’s birth (with Tony Coe and Brian Priestley – 33 Records, 1999) I’ll be drawing on the talents of US reeds (and stupendous clarinet) player Frank Griffith, and pianist Richard Wetherall. Twenty years on, and even better!
