In the run up to the TdFY, CheerSing – part of the Yorkshire Festival 2014 – offers workshops to help communities along the route to devise, lead and perform their own songs, cheers and chants. And if you want to put your new skills to the test then come along to cheer  The Grand Departs project  (part of Hebden Bridge Piano Festival and Yorkshire Festival) on Saturday 5 April which will tether cyclists together to haul a grand piano and playing pianist up the challenging Cragg’s Hill. Mad or not! But you’ll have some chants, songs and skills to cheer them on!

Seven Deadly Sings – Premiere Performance – THIS WEEK!

Louise Gibbs’ powerful new work for jazz singer and septet Seven Deadly Sings receives its premiere performance 6 March 2014 at Seven Arts in Leeds. Louise will be joined by THE SEPTET – top UK jazz musicians: Tony Kofi (alto/baritone sax), Tim Whitehead (tenor sax/bass clarinet), Quentin Collins (trumpet/flugel), Tom White (trombone), Sam Leak (piano), Oli Hayhurst (bass), and Sam Gardner (drums)- the same stellar line up as on her recent CD release.

The premiere of Seven Deadly Sings will be preceded by a set of Monk-inspired compositions and arrangements from the band.
